(St. Paul, MN) — Governor Walz says he plans to appoint someone with proven regulator experience to lead the state’s Office of Cannabis Management. The governor spoke about his plans for the appointment during an event at the University of Minnesota campus yesterday. His first choice for the position resigned abruptly last week. Erin DuPree said she stepped down the day after her appointment to avoid being a distraction after accusations surfaced that one of her businesses sold products that exceeded state limits on T-H-C potency. Walz said he learned a lesson from the DuPree controversy and will focus on hiring someone with regulatory experience rather than a member of the cannabis industry.
