(Mammoth Hot Springs, WY) — An elderly woman is in the hospital after being gored by a bison at Yellowstone National Park. Park officials say the woman was lifted about a foot off the ground by the animal’s horns on Saturday near Yellowstone Lake. The 83-year-old from South Carolina was taken to a medical clinic nearby before being flown to an Idaho hospital, but her condition is unknown. Yellowstone National Park noted the bison was defending its space, and reminded all visitors to keep a safe distance away from wildlife. The park did not provide an update on the woman’s condition.
