2nd West Nile Case Reported In South Dakota

(Jerauld County, SD) — The South Dakota Department of Health is confirming the second human case of the West Nile virus in the state. This new case has been reported in Jerauld County. The DOH reported the first human case was in Sanborn County in June. Three counties — Beadle, Brown and Minnehaha — have positive mosquito pools as of Thursday. Health officials are warning people to take precautions going outside because the state’s West Nile prediction model is predicting 59 cases.
