30th Anniversary Of Governor Mickelson Plane Crash

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakotans are remembering the crash that killed Governor George Mickelson. Yesterday marked 30 years since a plane carrying Governor Mickelson and seven others crashed after hitting a silo in Iowa. Mickelson, state leaders, and members of the Sioux Falls Development Foundation had been touring the state with a talk on the state’s economy. Mickelson was elected governor in 1986 and said in his acceptance speech that hard work had led to his victory.
