(Pierre, SD) — Last week’s 9-1-1 outage is now going to be investigated by state and federal agencies. The outage affected at least three state, including South Dakota and all of its Public Safety Answering Points. Blame was placed on a “third-party light pole installation” by service provider Lumen Technologies, formerly CenturyLink. The company is currently in a five-year, 36-million-dollar contract with the South Dakota Department of Public Safety for providing 911 services.
