Aberdeen City Leaders Respond To Fake Water Test Allegations

(Aberdeen, SD) — Aberdeen leaders are responding to the accusations from a city water superintendent that water treatment plant staff faked certain water quality records before publicly quitting his job. Robert Braun, who had been the superintendent of the water plant since 2017, brought up a number of grievances during the public comment portion of the Aberdeen City Council meeting earlier this week. He then publicly resigned. Mayor Travis Schaunaman released a statement on Thursday declaring no evidence of faked lab tests existed and no compliance issues could be found at the Aberdeen Water Treatment Plant. Schaunaman invited representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the South Dakota Association of Rural Water Systems to investigate the claim of falsified lab work.
