(Aberdeen, SD) — The closure of Aberdeen’s Banner Engineering plant will leave over 300 South Dakotans without jobs. The company recently announced that it would close its doors at the end of the year on December 31st. Layoffs are starting as soon as April 29th. Employees received a letter from the company about the situation last Thursday. Aberdeen Mayor Travis Schaunaman says the city is shocked by the news, and he’s trying to keep as many jobs in the city as possible.
