Abortion Rights Measure Challenged

(Pierre, SD) — A pro-life group is fighting to block the South Dakota abortion rights measure set to be on the ballot for November’s General Election. Life Defense Fund is suing Dakotans for Health. The lawsuit was filed last week with claims that Dakotans for Health broke election laws when gathering signatures to get the proposal on the ballot. Those include failing to give out circulator handouts and misleading petition signers. The Secretary of State’s Office has already certified the measure after clearing a sufficient number of petitions. Amendment G would legalize abortion during the first trimester, which is zero to 13 weeks.
