(Sioux Falls, SD) — There has been another possible disturbance reported at the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls. KELOLAND News was at the penitentiary Thursday night, and saw crews wearing gas masks and holding “riot-type shields” in their hands. An alarm coming from the building was also heard. This comes after Wednesday night’s disturbance when an inmate reportedly refused to go back into his jail cell because he was protesting the lack of access to computer tablets and phones. A correctional officer was assaulted and had to be taken to the hospital as a result.
