April Police Shooting Ruled Justified

(Sioux Falls, SD) — Officials are reaching a conclusion on an officer-involved shooting in Sioux Falls back in April. The Attorney General’s Office and DCI agents say Sioux Falls Police were justified in shooting an armed man while trying to secure him for a mental health hold. It happened in northeast Sioux Falls where police say the man was holding two knives and refused to put them down when he stood up. Officers fired three shots, hitting the man. He was taken to the hospital and later arrested.
