(Sioux Falls, SD) — The Argus Leader will not try to replace a weekly newspaper as the official news outlet for legal notices in Sioux Falls. Parent company Gannett and the Argus Leader announced in a statement on Monday they are “discontinuing their legal action” against the City of Sioux Falls. Citing “cost savings and local ownership,” Sioux Falls City Council in June switched from the Argus Leader to the Dakota Scout as the official news outlet for legal notices. The Dakota Scout was founded in 2022 by two former Argus Leader reporters. The city’s agreement with the Dakota Scout runs through June 30th of next year.
