(Sioux Falls, SD) — Avera Health is planning to expand its behavioral health facilities in two South Dakota cities. The announcement was made Wednesday citing an immediate need because of increasing demand among people who are looking for resources to manage their mental health. Avera Behavioral Health Vice President, Thomas Otten, says their expansion efforts are building an entirely new mental health facility in Aberdeen with 18 beds. In Sioux Falls, they will complete construction on an already existing space, adding 16 more rooms for more chronically mentally ill adult patients. More than seven million dollars will be invested between the two locations as a result of federal and state funding and private donations.
