Bill Would Refer To Governor As “Governor” In State Statutes

(Pierre, SD) — A newly signed bill that updates references to the “governor” and other public officers will take effect on Saturday. House Bill 1175 and Senate Joint Resolution 505 would make changes to refer to the governor as “the governor,” instead of “he.” Governor Kristi Noem says, “We are fixing our laws and Constitution so that they reflect the fact that women and men can both attain offices like governor.”
