Black Hills State President Retiring

(Rapid City, SD) — Black Hills State University President Laurie Nichols is retiring. Nichols announced her retirement from higher education recently after four years as BHSU president. Under Nichols’ administration, the university expanded to form a Rapid City campus and established the West River Health Science Center. Nichols also brought degree programs to active military and their families at Ellsworth Air Force base and strengthen academic relationships with Crazy Horse and the American Indian University in North America. She will remain in her position while a search for the next president begins this fall.
