(Pierre, SD) — Extreme cold is about to blast South Dakota along with most of the central U.S. this weekend. Recorded temperatures will barely be above zero, but dangerous wind chills are going to make it feel worse. Those wind chills are forecasted to be minus 40 or colder in some areas. Experts are reminding folks that frostbite can take effect within 10 minutes or less in these conditions. The cold blast is expected to continue through Monday while some parts of eastern South Dakota may not be above zero until Tuesday.
