Candidate For South Dakota House Of Representatives Facing Charges

(Elk Point, SD) — A candidate running for a seat in the South Dakota House of Representative is facing charges. Court documents say Robin Schiro was arrested last week, after driving away from Clay County authorities and the South Dakota State Patrol on Highway 50. Police say they were after Schiro because she had an outstanding warrant for speeding in Lawrence County. Schiro is currently running for the District 17 seat and reportedly accused the officers “of working for the IRS and trying to sabotage her political campaign.” She was booked into Union County Jail on a charge of obstructing an officer and was later released on a unsecured bond as more charges from Clay County are pending.
