Custer State Park Set To Have Prescribed Burn

(Rapid City, SD) — Custer State Park is set to be the site of a prescribed burn. South Dakota Wildland Fire officials say 225 acres on the park will undergo a prescribed burn today. The burn area will be between LH Road and Highway 16A on the north end of the Wildlife Loop Road. The process is intended to increase food and habitats for wildlife, improve the growth of native grass, and provide training for firefighting staff. Cleanup and monitoring will continue for several days.
