(Deadwood, SD) — A man is fighting for his life after being struck by a vehicle in Deadwood. Police say it happened Wednesday evening. A 68-year-old from North Carolina was crossing the road Pioneer Way in a crosswalk when he was hit. The man sustained critical injuries and was transported by Life Flight to a Rapid City hospital. According to police, alcohol and speed don’t appear to be factors in the crash. But the driver of the vehicle was charged with failure to yield right of way to the pedestrian. The man’s name has yet to be released while further investigation continues.
