(Undated) — The bird flu continues to be a growing problem in South Dakota and around the country this month. As of Friday, more than 400-thousand turkeys in-state and more than four million egg laying chickens in northwestern Iowa were impacted by the flu. That’s according to the USDA’s avian flu tracker. Sioux County has had three different reports of detections among egg laying flocks in December alone. Bird flu has also been detected in dairy herds with seven impacted since June in South Dakota as of Friday, according to the USDA tracker.
