(Ellsworth Air Force Base, SD) — The Douglas School District is requesting 62-million dollars for a new elementary school in anticipation of the influx of families with the arrival of a new bomber at Ellsworth Air Force Base. Around 15-hundred kids are expected when support personnel and their families arrive at the base with the B-21 Raider bomber. Senators Mike Rounds and John Thune are seeking 42-million dollars in federal money to go with 15-million in state funds. The importance of quality schools near military bases was among the items discussed at a meeting in Sioux Falls last week with the Commander of the 28th Bomber Wing.
