Drug Ring Brings Cocaine Into South Dakota From Texas

(Rapid City, SD) — Two men are responsible for dealing cocaine in western South Dakota. Twenty-seven-year-old Slayte Petersen and 23-year-old Joel Avila are now going to federal prison. They admitted they were involved in a drug ring connected to Texas. More than 11 pounds of cocaine is now off the streets of South Dakota. Both men will have to serve four years behind bars, followed by supervised release.
