(Sioux Falls, SD) — There are new details on the arrest of a Sioux Falls murder suspect. On Tuesday, authorities in South Carolina found Lamont Burks Jr., the second man allegedly involved in a shooting at Dunham Park back in August. He’s charged with murder, attempted murder and assault after one person was killed and three others were hurt. South Carolina’s Anderson County Sheriff’s Office says a license plate reader caught Burks’ car and alerted officials that he was wanted in South Dakota. He was tracked down by special investigators and taken into custody peacefully. Sioux Falls Police had put the information into the national database following no luck with the investigation locally. Burks now faces extradition back to South Dakota, who was already on parole in the state for simple assault before the August shooting. A hearing date will be set by South Dakota agencies.
