(Canton, SD) — A Sioux Falls man is behind bars for leading Lincoln County authorities on a pursuit early Saturday morning. According to the sheriff’s office, deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on a road west of the Lennox exit off Interstate 29 around 2 a.m. The vehicle sped away from deputies and later crashed near the Iowa border. A man and woman inside then ran off, leading to a hours-long search between multiple law enforcement agencies. Lyon County deputies first found the woman in Iowa, four miles east of the crash site. The deputies later spotted the suspect identified as 54-year-old Anthony Loyd near a bridge on the South Dakota side. Loyd faces several charges and was already on parole for a pursuit involving a stolen vehicle back in 2021. Authorities learned during Saturday’s search that the woman with Loyd may have been held against her will and was not arrested.
