Education Prioritized In This Year’s Legislative Session

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota Republican leaders say this legislative session has been a banner year for education. Praise was shared among lawmakers during the final leadership press briefing Wednesday. A four-percent increase to the Board of Regents budget was the highest it has received in decades. The BOR budget approved by the Joint Committee on Appropriation includes a tuition freeze for state universities that lawmakers aim to pass for the third year in a row. Senate Bill 127, which would increase teacher pay, also passed in the House and Senate Wednesday.
