Experts Say December Warm Weather Not Unusual

(Pierre, SD) — The mild start to December is not unusual, according to local meteorologists. Temperatures have been above average across South Dakota just about everyday this month. The state did see very similar starts to December fairly recently in 2020 and also 2015. Those years held an average high in the mid-40s through the first two weeks of the month. But meteorologists say it’s very possible that temps on Christmas Eve and Christmas could rewrite South Dakota history with record highs this year.
