(Vermillion, SD) — A fallen tree is the cause of a ruptured gas line in Vermillion. Emergency crews responded to the report in the Suburban Mobile Home Park near 833 East Duke Street yesterday morning. The area was evacuated and secured by law enforcement after fire command discovered the downed tree hit three gas meters and ruptured the gas line. To get the tree removed, officials requested MidAmerican Energy and Vermillion Light and Power to shut off power to the mobile home park. It took about 30 minutes to get the gas leak contained and power was restored soon after.
