Federal Charges Filed In Deadly Pine Ridge Shooting

(Allen, SD) — There are new federal charges being filed in a deadly shooting on the Pine Ridge Reservation. 19-year-old McKenzie Big Crow is accused of killing his girlfriend, 19-year-old Ashton Provost, and their unborn child back in August of last year. Big Crow now faces charges in federal court after the case began in tribal court. Those charges include second-degree murder, discharge of a firearm in a crime of violence, possession of an unregistered firearm and violating the unborn victims of violence act. Big Crow’s trial date is set for August 13th.
