Fire Danger Remains For Parts Of SD

(Pierre, SD) — Wildfires continue to be a significant threat to South Dakota. The east central part of the state was in critical fire danger over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service. It may only get worse with rising temps as summer approaches. Several areas of South Dakota are lacking moisture on the ground while dealing with windy conditions. Crews have battled several fires this month, including five in one day just over a week ago. Officials are strongly urging South Dakotans to be smart by not throwing cigarettes on the ground, checking for loose parts on vehicles or trailers, and following local burn restrictions.
