First Bill Of 2023 Session Takes Effect

(Pierre, SD) — A bill to reduce employer contribution rates in South Dakota is now in effect. HB1011 was the first bill signed into law during the 2023 legislative session. It cuts unemployment insurance employer contributions by point-five percent, amounting to about 18-million dollars in savings. The governor said, “It’s time to put money back in the pockets of hardworking South Dakota business owners.”
