First Thunder Fire Has Reached 170-Acres

(Rapid City, SD) — A pre-evacuation alert has been issued as crews continue to battle the “First Thunder” fire just miles southwest of Rapid City. The fire started on private property and has grown and spread into the Black Hills National Forest. There are currently no evacuation orders, but the Pennington County Sheriff’s office wants people to be ready. In the event of an evacuation, people should only grab their most irreplaceable items. The fire is currently the number one priority in the region.
