(Tea, SD) — A former nurse from Tea is going on probation for two years. That’s the sentence handed down to 40-year-old Brittany Enstad for obtaining a controlled substance by fraud. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of South Dakota, Enstad took blister packs from the narcotics cabinet containing OxyContin, removed the drugs for her own use and replaced the packs with other medications such as melatonin and acetaminophen. This reportedly happened over the second half of 2022 when she was a Registered Nurse at the Sanford Canton-Inwood Medical Center in Canton. The packs were resealed with Enstad knowing the other medications she placed in the packs would be dispensed to patients at the medical center instead of the OxyContin.
