(Jerauld County, SD) — A 12-year-old Wessington Springs girl has passed away after trying to battle through a tragedy for more than a week. The girl was crossing Highway 34 to get on her school bus when a driver lost control on the ice and hit her back on January 26th. Fog may also have been a factor in the crash, according to authorities. The girl has been in a Sioux Falls area hospital since, but died from her injuries Tuesday morning.
