(Washington, DC) — By next week, Senator John Thune could be the new U.S. Senate Leader. Thune is among three Republican senators vying to be the party’s leader in the Upper Chamber. He joins Texas Senator John Cornyn and Florida Senator Rick Scott. They are looking to replace Kentucky’s Mitch McConnell, who is stepping aside as Republican leader. Thune told CNBC that he believes it would be in President-elect Trump’s best interest to not get involved in the race. Senate Republicans will hold the election for the party’s new leader Wednesday.
