Gov. Kristi Noem Cites State Law In Deciding To Shoot Her Dog

(Sioux Falls, SD) — Governor Kristi Noem is citing a South Dakota law to defend her actions of shooting a 14-month-old puppy. In the excerpt from Noem’s upcoming book, “No Going Back: The Truth on What’s Wrong with Politics and How We Move America Forward,” she describes the puppy named Cricket, as an “untrainable, dangerous, and worthless” hunting dog. On social media, Noem said she understands why many people are upset about the story that happened 20 years ago but state law says “it is legal for any person to kill a dog that is found chasing, injuring, or killing poultry or domestic animals.” The governor then went on to say if more people want more “real, honest, and politically incorrect stories that’ll have the media gasping” then preorder her book.
