(Pierre, SD) — Governor Noem has plans for a summit on tribal public safety next month. The Republican governor made the announcement for what she’s calling the “Tribal Public Safety Crisis Summit” in a news release yesterday. She has invited elected leaders — including tribal leaders from all nine South Dakota Native tribes — and law enforcement officials to Pierre on June 24th. This comes as all nine tribes have publicly called for banning Noem from their reservation lands. Noem said in the release, “We solve problems best when we work together and communicate — I hope that this Summit will accomplish that.
