Governor Hopes For More MOU Agreements

(Watertown, SD) — Governor Kristi Noem hopes a recent agreement between a tribe and Highway Patrol will be the first of many in the state. Noem was referring to a Memorandum of Understanding the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe signed with Highway Patrol. In an interview with Keloland, Noem said there have been similar agreements for law enforcement assistance for specific tribal events, but this is the first “ongoing mutual aid agreement.” She said it can be “a model for every tribe to embrace.”
