(Yankton, SD) — South Dakota Governor Noem is sharing her latest update on the flooding in the southeastern part of the state. Noem held a press conference in Yankton yesterday afternoon, saying 30 different counties are facing emergency declaration impacts. Reports from those counties are being filed to FEMA. She added that river level projections are looking better as the James, Vermillion, and Big Sioux Rivers crested earlier than anticipated and at different times from one another. Noem says the McCook Lake area is now her highest priority after several homes were lost from flooding.
