Governor Noem Wants Tribes To Banish Cartels

(Pierre, SD) — Governor Kristi Noem wants the South Dakota tribal reservations to banish cartels. Noem said in a statement yesterday that cartels operate on reservations because it’s the ideal place to “instigate drug addiction, murder, rape, and human trafficking.” The governor said she’ll continue to protect the lives of Native Americans in the state and is willing to work with the tribes “to sign Law Enforcement Agreements to uphold tribal law.” This comes after Noem requested the Biden Administration to conduct an audit of all federal funds given to the state’s nine Native American tribes.
