Grant To Help Early Ovarian Cancer Detection

(Sioux Falls, SD) — One Sanford lab is getting a major boost towards research for early ovarian cancer detection. The lab will be receiving nearly eight-hundred-thousand dollars from the American Cancer Society. Only about 20 percent of ovarian cancers are found early, according to the organization, and this work being done in South Dakota will aim to fix that. The lab’s head researcher, Dr. Pilar de la Puente, says there’s no panel or anything available for early detection, so her lab wants to come up with something to make it a reality.
