(Gregory County, SD) — A Gregory County man will spend seven years in federal prison for shooting two of his family members. The U.S. Attorney’s Office District of South Dakota says 27-year-old Dillon Yellow Hawk was convicted yesterday of two counts of assault resulting in serious bodily injury after he pleaded guilty to the charges in February. Yellow Hawk reportedly shot his cousin and aunt at his grandmother’s home on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation in April 2023. Both victims survived but needed surgery for their injuries.
