Harvest Season In Full Swing, Crops Ahead Of Average

(Pierre, SD) — Harvest season is happening in South Dakota and much of the region. Corn harvest was pacing ahead of the five-year average in the region, according to the USDA. As of Thursday, nine-percent of the corn in South Dakota is already harvested. The state and surrounding region are also ahead of the average with soybean harvest. Farmers are working in some dry conditions this fall with only a small percentage of topsoil and subsoil with adequate moisture.
