Head Coach, Quarterback Leaving SDSU

(Brookings, SD) — The offseason just started for South Dakota State Football, but the Jacks are already going to look a lot different next year. Head Coach Jimmy Rogers is moving on after two seasons in Brookings. He will now take the helm as the new head coach of Washington State, which was officially announced on Saturday. Rogers, an SDSU alum, led the Jacks to a 27-3 record during his short tenure, capping off a perfect season with an FCS national title in year one. SDSU senior quarterback Mark Gronowski also intends to enter the Transfer Portal, according to a report yesterday from ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Gronowski led SDSU to a 49-6 record as a starter and helped guide the Jacks to back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023. Gronowski is also weighing forgoing his remaining eligibility and entering the NFL Draft, according to Thamel’s report.
