(Pierre, SD) — Health concerns are on the rise for South Dakotans as Canadian wildfire smoke continues to roll in from the north. Smokey conditions were quite noticeable across the state yesterday with the haze and smell. Evacuation orders were given to thousands of people in Canada last night. The Department of Health and the Department of Ag and Natural Resources has issued an air quality alert for the entire state of South Dakota. Elderly folks with respiratory problems and young kids are particularly vulnerable. Health experts are urging anyone with symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing and fatigue to stay inside as much as possible.
