(Flandreau, SD) — The murder trial for Joseph Hoek is set for April 2025. Hoek allegedly killed Moody County Chief Deputy Ken Prorok four months ago. He has been deemed fit to stand trial, and faces one count of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated eluding. Hoek has plead not guilty to both. South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says the state will seek the death penalty, but that it will be determined by Hoek’s peers.
