Human Trafficking Happening In South Dakota

(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota officials is advising people to look out for each other as human trafficking is happening locally. The United States Attorney’s Office District of South Dakota’s anti-trafficking efforts have led to multiple prosecutions in 2023 alone, resulting in federal charges, convictions and prison sentences. Seven people were prosecuted in the state last year. Another ten men were arrested for internet incidents. January is National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, and anyone who may be a victim or have information is urged to call the National Human Trafficking Hotline.
