Interstate 29 Lane Closure Planned Near 49th Street in Sioux Falls for DDI Construction Project

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – On Monday, April 8, 2024, an inside median lane closure is planned for the northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 29 from the 49th Street intersection to the 41st Street intersection. This lane closure will be in place for one week to allow crews to conduct maintenance work at 49th Street.

This work is part of phase three construction of the 41st Street Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) project. Construction began in 2022 and is anticipated to be completed this summer. Over the next few months, crews will focus on finishing touches, site clean-up, and transitioning the intersection into an operational DDI.

Drivers are asked to be aware of construction workers and equipment within the work zone. Motorist should expect congestion, very slow speeds, and stopped traffic conditions during the closure.
