Johnson Proposes New SNAP Requirements

(Rapid City, SD) — The South Dakota lawmaker who’s leading the work requirements fight for federal SNAP benefits in the U.S. House is proposing a change. Representative Dusty Johnson wants the supplemental nutrition benefits to incentivize people who are actively trying to find work and make it out of poverty. According to the Department of Social Services, 70-thousand South Dakotans rely on SNAP.
