Lawrence County Petition To Ban Voting Machines Turned Down

(Deadwood, SD) — Some South Dakota counties are facing voter concerns over the effectiveness of electronic voting machines compared to hand counting. It stems from calls of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election, which has had no credible evidence so far. The Lawrence County Commission has just rejected a petition looking to ban voting machines. According to the county auditor, the group behind the petition did collect enough signatures to send the petition to a county-wide vote. But the commissioners voted five to zero to reject it. The next county to tackle the issue will likely be McPherson County where similar petitions have been circulated.
