Leaders In Brookings Celebrating Special Renewable Energy

(Brookings, SD) — Leaders of both the farming and energy industries are celebrating a new way of renewable energy. The new energy is being dubbed ‘Re-MOO-able energy.’ It’s using cow manure as the latest resource for natural gas. Methane gases are captured and scrubbed, and then the clean, natural gas is injected into NorthWestern Energy’s gas lines. Those lines bring heat, light and power to homes and business across the Brookings area. A ceremony was held Monday morning in honor of Earth Day as the large-scale production begins. It’s part of NorthWestern Energy’s Net Zero by 2050 Vision that’s now an economic development tool for South Dakota.
