(Sioux Falls, SD) — Some current staff members at South Dakota Urban Indian Health are asking for the former leader to return. A change of leadership recently took place following a consultant review which led the board of directors to ask for the resignation of Michaela Sieber. Staff members told Dakota News Now that they believe the board “loss the original goal of reaching the Native American community” and say the consultant made an insensitive and racially motivated comment after they cited their concerns. The consultant reportedly asked “the downtown staff, who is all native, to stop shooting arrows at board of directors.” The board said it’s aware of the comment and they want the community to know that such statements are not condoned.
